Overview

Our long-term client relationship with NASA has led to a need for a Systems Project Integrator  - Human Space Flight (SE&I) on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration (HSFTIC) contract at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Our primary government work is with NASA and is conducted at the Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, TX and the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL.  Barrios employees make significant contributions to our nation’s space program by providing expertise that advances our presence in low Earth orbit and lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon through our work on the International Space Station, Orion, Gateway, and Space Launch System.  Barrios employees are also actively participating in the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry through partnerships with Sierra Space, Dynetics, Northrup-Grumman, and Intuitive Machines. 

Responsibilities

The Systems Project Integrator - Human Space Flight (SE&I) will:

  • Utilize understanding of the product life cycle to establish Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) systems integration techniques for effective execution of concept trade studies, requirements management, test & verification, and modeling and analysis.
  • Apply project integration principles and techniques to establish SE&I system modeling initiatives for requirements validation, product development, product integration, requirements verification, system validation, and hardware/software product deployment.
  • Propose process improvement initiatives that promote the progression of Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) expertise within a more digitized SE&I environment which incorporates systems modeling solutions and data digitization systems for process/product life cycle management, requirements management, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approaches.
  • Establish working relationships with NASA leads, requirement owners, and commercial teammates’ key personnel to gain their advocacy in the implementation of innovative systems modeling and data integration solutions for performing more efficient SE&I functions.
  • Provide systems integration knowledge and expertise during major project milestones and project reviews to guide Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) teams through action resolution.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Math or Science, or Technology from an accredited college, or university , plus two (2) years of applicable project integration experience.
  • Knowledge of product life cycle development, sound project management principles, and a good working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering and project management practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems.
  • General knowledge of systems modeling tools or initiatives (like Excel tracking, databases, requirements management software, etc.) that promote the digitization of the systems engineering & integration discipline.
  • Practical experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

Preferences:

  • INCOSE Certified System Engineering Professional (CSEP).
  • Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering (MSSE).
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software, JIRA or other similar tools.
  • Working experience with systems modeling tools and data digitization software (DDS) for systems engineering.
  • Working experience with DOORS requirements management software or other requirements management software.
  • Working experience with Rhapsody, MagicDraw, CAMEO or other systems modeling software.
  • Working experience with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD modeling suite.
  • Working knowledge of Python and Visual Basic.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
