Our long-term client relationship with JSC has led to a need for an EHP Pressurized Rover Systems Engineer Lead on the Human Space Flight Technical Integration Contract (HSFTIC) at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

The main focus of support will in support of the Pressurized Rover team within the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program, known as EHP.  The EHP office supports executing Extravehicular Activities (EVAs) to the International Space Station and developing EVA and surface mobility systems for the Artemis Program and beyond. These systems include the Exploration EVA Suits, the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), and the Pressurized Rover (PR) systems, which will provide astronauts capabilities to explore around the Moon outside the confines of their base spacecraft.   

Responsibilities

The EHP Pressurized Rover Systems Engineer Lead will:

  • Apply expertise in systems engineering principles and techniques to establish and perform systems integration activities such as requirements management, architectural design, author and review technical and engineering documents, memos, and presentations, and perform model-based systems engineering.
  • Utilize comprehensive understanding of the product life cycle to establish and lead SE&I performance initiatives for effective execution of concept trade studies, requirements management, test & verification, and modeling and analysis.
  • Establish and lead working relationships with NASA leads, system managers, commercial teammates, and international partners to lead systems integration activities.
  • Mentor team members with implementation of SE&I activities such as requirements identification, verification and tracking, interface definition and Interface Control Document (ICD) development, working with design organizations and cross-functional teams, supporting development, integration, certification, and verification testing.
  • Lead the incorporation of process improvement initiatives that promote the progression of SE&I expertise within a more digitized SE&I environment.
  • Provide comprehensive, technical systems knowledge and expertise during major project milestones and project reviews to lead SE&I teams through action resolution.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:  

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus five (10) years of appropriate work experience.

                                                 - OR -

 

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus fifteen (15) years of appropriate work experience.

 

  • Applied knowledge of product life cycle development, sound systems engineering & integration principles, and strong working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems.
  • Project management or other leadership experience.
  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders and independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • INCOSE System Engineering Professional Certification.
  • Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering.
  • Knowledge of systems, tools, or initiatives that promote the digitization of the systems engineering & integration discipline, such as requirements management software (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.), workflow management software (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), model based systems engineering software (Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.), or other digital tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
