Responsibilities

The Electrical Engineer will:

 

  • Design and develop electrical systems and hardware for spaceflight applications.
  • Generate and maintain electrical schematics, interface documentation, bills of materials, and technical documentation in accordance with engineering standards and program requirements.
  • Perform electrical analyses to support design, integration, verification, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Develop and execute verification activities, including functional and environmental testing of electrical hardware.
  • Support hardware procurement, manufacturing, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test teams to integrate electrical hardware into flight systems.
  • Participate in requirements development, design reviews, and verification planning activities.
  • Support customer presentations, technical reviews, and program milestones.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

 

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, plus five (5) years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience designing electrical systems from concept through hardware realization for spaceflight systems.
  • Applied experience creating electrical schematics and engineering documentation using industry-standard electrical design tools.
  • Experience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical components and hardware.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation including schematics, bills of materials, interface documentation, work orders, and test plans.
  • Knowledge of electrical system requirements, verification methods, and hardware testing.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering teams with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferences:

  • Experience with environmental testing, including vibration, thermal-vacuum, shock, or other testing.
  • Experience with power distribution, embedded electronics, sensors, motor control, communications interfaces, or avionics systems.
  • Experience with electrical analysis, simulation, or PCB design tools.
  • Master's degree in engineering.

Essential Requirements 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
